no major updates, simply putting an entry so i remember what i need.

I'm having to change the res for the ebb and flow nearly once a week. i'm noticing a lot of floaties around that time, and i'm no biologist so i can only assume it's undesirable organic life. I've been applying shock at 20ml per gallon, but my dilution may either be ineffective or too low to have real impact.

The other pain point here is I have no air running in the res. That means, the solution is sitting stagnant except when flooding. No bueno. The other option is to run a couple lengths of air line from the pump running the tent, but that's a hell of a lot air line, and would require some careful reconfiguration of how things are ran in the tent currently.

Writing it out, that actually sounds like a better idea.

i also need to pick up some more rockwool, pH down, and enzymes. I've decided I'll be growing some lettuce and peppers alongside the moms as I rather not waste available space if I can produce something that reduces bills elsewhere. We eat nearly vegan in this house, so why not, ya know?

Now, I'm off to do research on reservoir waterfalls. Getting away from air pumps is the most ideal solution, as I've heard enough buzzzzz to last me a decade.

I'll post some pics up soon. Just have nothing exciting to show.

Really happy to see the Nothing beans. First shot -and you walked away with your prize.

You comp plant was top notch. Was super fun to have you along.

Take a look at venturies before you get to deep into final decisions. Anything with surface area turn-over is the ticket.
It is just plumbing. Permanent and maintenance free.

I know you carry a lot of responsibility caring for a family, working, and growing, and the endless 'Dad' tasks that come with it. Compromising , negotiating, and making time for the important stuff can be physicaly and emotionally taxing sometimes. Rewarding as well.
Fleeting,,,when there is only 24 hours in a day.
Takes a lot to keep all those plates spinning, and it looks like you are well caring of your self and your charges,,, and doing a fine job.

Stay cool, and keep those snipers handy. You have a green tsunami rolling your way.

I appreciate your kind words, Jewels. It's a lot to juggle, for sure. Getting back into growing gave me a source of serenity when it was needed most, and the kids love helping out with both indoor and outdoor gardening tasks, so that's an added benefit.

Next year I think I'll task my daughter with raising her first tomato plant nearly entirely on her own. She'll be almost 5, so I think she's ready for that level of responsibility. Just gotta keep the terrorist boy from ripping it out of the ground lol.

Now if these clones would hurry up and root, the tent could be going in full force. Seems to be taking forever to get traction on that front, was hoping to be vegging by now. Maybe by turkey day.

Quick photo drop. the girl in site 1 has decided to quit staring at the wall, and perk up to see the light. Figure that means she's probably getting ready to do some things. The clones are still taking their sweet ass time getting roots out of the bottom of the rockwool cube, but they seem content in my ghetto clone dome.

Now, the jungle needs to be tended to. them plants are damn near touching the light.. again. I'll take care of that tomorrow. there's a boy BMS in there that needs to be taken down a notch, thinking I'll take a clone of him and then send him to the compost. That'll open up some space. Will likely give everyone else another hair cut too.

Set up a venturi in the f&d res. pump seems a bit overpowered, but that's not a big deal. worst case, i'll swap it out for the feed pump, and use the feed pump if the noise gets to be too much. Two big wins with this: no more hand mixing nutes and it's getting plenty of oxygenation.

So, we're finally off to the races! Both sites filled, site 1 has definitely taken root and is showing daily growth. Going to continue to veg for roughly two more weeks, or until the screen is ~80% filled, then flip. That should leave enough room in the screen to handle stretch and keep the canopy uniform.

The mother closet received a substantial hair cut, and just keeps on keepin on. Sucks taking a ton of cuts and sending em to the compost bin, but I made my bed, and I sleep in beds I make dammit.

One thing to note is adding the venturi to the small res seems to be keeping pH much more stable. I can't say the same for the big res, it's creeping up more, and the EC is increasing more too, so I think I'm going to reduce feeding a bit and see if that helps encourage more rapid growth since the ladies are obviously drinking some water (hence the EC and pH increases). Time will tell, doing a full res change out on the tent today because I don't want to try and fight 1500 PPM and 6.8 pH back into where they need to be.

Also, the Lophophora Williamsii seeds have arrived! This is going to be a fun journey, and I'm excited to get these going. Also have some Trichocereus Peruvianus and Trichocereus Bollivianus seeds en route. All the cacti will be mine :D

I did the tell, now I do the show.

Nothing too exciting yet, but the growth rate is great so far. I thought coco was quick, but this dutch bucket system is something else. Seeing noticeable daily growth. I cut the PPMs back yesterday when I did the res change out. Haven't noticed any impact yet. Really curious to see if lower PPMs will help increase veg growth rates too.

The addition of the second set of enfun boards also shows some really positive impacts on node spacing. Currently running them at 75% capacity and not seeing any significant stretch.

Now, my question is should I start trimming the lowest stuff? I've not ran this few of plants in a scrog before, so I'm a bit unsure of when I should start the cleaning under the skirt work.

And as a bonus, the square pots in the baggies are the lophophora williamsii cultures. Can't see anything through the condensation, but I'm 90% sure I started the proper. The tent is a perfect environment for germination, so we'll find out one way or another. Would there be interest in a tek for this process?

And yes, that res temp is high af. I gotta figure something out sooner than later about that.

Moving along nicely. Haven't seen any new yellow spots show up and the ones that were there look to have healed. It might've been a deficiency issue, since the last feed I bumped the EC up a little.

They've drank another three gallons in two days, so I'm also thinking about kicking up the fertigation to run hourly.

Since I have 15min interval timers, I figure if need be mid-flower I could bump it up to every half hour or full time during lights on, and every couple hours, like now, during lights off.

Feedback welcome!

Oh my gosh they’re so cute
i wasn't expecting the lophs to get to the size they are so quickly. they're about .5cm at this point. at least the truly rooted ones are. out of ~50 seeds, I've had about 30 sprout in 10 days. Can take up to 21 days for germination, so pretty good return I'd say.

I'm hesitant to pick favorites, but the b torches are def tickling me a bit more than the lophs. they're just... adorable.

Looking real good in here. I went back through the journal and it is an amazing ride. (y) I am not sure you mentioned it but if you did I missed it. Which nutrient mixes you using for these dutch buckets?
Thanks Buck. I'm running FrontRow AG part A and B. I'll be using MOAB for the PK booster this run. I also run Hygrozyme and Hydroguard to keep the nasties at bay, and Protekt for silica for those beefy stems.

Last run I ran end to end with just the two part regimen.

Just another quick update. No noticeable changes since adding the hydroguard (2ml/gal), but there's some extra peace of mind now. Girls are doing great, also no other noticeable negative impacts of kicking the fertigation up to hourly.

Noticed a little bit of leaf curling, but I think that's either due to temps or RH. It'll work itself out.

They're transpiring really well (found moisture on a leaf, that another leaf was sitting on top off). I definitely need to trim some of those leafs up, and I'm thinking if I'm going to keep a flat canopy, I'll need to do some topping between now and flowering.

Also need to decide how to deal with the fat trunk moving the cover of the rockwool. By harvest, I anticipate that trunk completely taking over the corner of that rockwool block. It's already the size the first phalange on my thumb, and we're still a couple weeks out at minimum before flip.

I also threw a 12" fan under the canopy. Working on getting some vortex action going, but it threw off my temps again, so giving it some time to stabilize while i work to find the sweet spot for the environment.

Once my MegaCrop runs low I may look into this. I really like how these are looking.
i wouldn't buy it again just because of its price point. it's expensive. at least for small scale. sure, i'm good for the next two years plus if i stay at my current level, but it was a big upfront cost. 50lbs came out to like $380, for the two part. but, it eliminates the need for a calmag supplement, ph's pretty well in RO, and is stable. Plays well with silica and both a sterile res and live res regimen.

I'm not upset about the initial investment, would've spent that in two cycles with bottled nutes. But looking at megacrop's overhead vs front row ag overhead, it's steep.

Yeah that's a bit pricey, no doubt. MegaCrop is very affordable and does we'll, but I'd like to see those darker greens come through. The FrontRow does give me something to think about.

Overnight, ppm stayed at 744, little bit of jumping to 755, but pretty stable. pH increased from 5.5 to 6.5, and water looks to have dropped a couple of gallons. Think feed is on point now, just have to watch consumption to confirm I've found the sweet spot for this stage.

Screen is about 1/2 full, so maybe another couple weeks unless the growth rates shoot up with me getting the feed dialed in and the schedule continuing to do its positive work.

Continuing to keep an eye on things, this is the first week I haven't done a change out so we'll see how the girls like it. It's finally looking stable enough, so my thoughts are why mess with something that's working.
