I leave them in the towel until they unfold Coty's. Plant them with green exposed. A ziplock bag fits flat, perfectly over those four-holer trays.
Once everyone is emerged, (24 to 48 hours), I pull the bags and they are on their own.

Recently moved up to legitimate food, they are taking off.

Mix is good, soil is dry after 24 hours.
And I mean dry, I popped a couple out of their pots and the roots are air pruning on all sides.
That to me, is the tipping point. I'm giving them almost enough water to drown them, and they are dry the next day.
Let the stunting begin!
I may have to back off the light, so I don't overdrive them, as I intend to hold this kamikaze course until they show sex, around new year.
The low humidity and the small containers are effectively throttling, to keep them small. I am going to be plugging these in around two per square foot , about equivalent to 32 in a 4x4

whats oh-oh? Lolz 😆

I shoulda named it Lolz, because it is a bad joke.

A continuation of the 'summer daze' project.
SweetSeeds has a nifty purple tangie. They crossed it to GreenPoison Auto ; Manadarine F1 Fast.
I took pollen from my ((Gg4×Gsc)×JTR))× Tangiematic), hit the F1 Manadrine.
[(auto×auto)×(photo×auto)]

What a mess!

Grew out a batch of them, and saw all kinds of fuckery.
Boys who became girls, girls that wanted to be boys, some of them wanted to be Auto boy/girls. Sprinkle in a couple of regs,,,
In addition to being confused, they all had one thing in common; heavenly candy terps.
Intoxicating.
Had around 9 on the go, every time I took one down I felt like I was clubbing a baby seal.
I only got two plants that flew right. A fully auto male, and a fully photo female. She was boss; everything you would hope for in a Tangie, vigorous, generous, and loaded with candy nugs.
Slap me twice, cuz I went ahead and made seeds with it. 😎

No way this has a happy ending.
The handle is getting too long, so I had to give it a name. Every time I think about what is lurking inside those seeds only one thought comes to mind,,, Mandarine Oh-Oh

Cottage Gardens often have perennial fruit. My girl wants a BerrySmurf-Tangie ×.
I ran that LarrySmurf for so long, I got tired of looking at it ; and I have already made tons of crosses with Tangie, so not looking for a candidate there.
Rather than a forced marriage scenario, I am using this round to build a worthy suitor. Come up with a sweet cross and cross that back to SourTangie.
Rifling through the vault, I was rooting for anything: Berries , fruit, red, or candy.
Loosely following the role call I ended up with some :bubblegum, candy, plushberry, shishkaberry, strawberry, cherry, sour bubble, Zinger berries, watermelon, raspberry, blackberry, grapes, and Mandarines.

Always a surprise, some of these are beginning to show sex at less than 4 weeks !

Thunderdome !
I am still indecisive, although determined to only run one male.
At this point I can narrow it down, and eliminate the majority. The male will come from something that I trust/have run before.
Looking for chunky buds with high bud to leaf ratio. I got no humidity concerns around here, they can get as plump as they please.
Gotta start somewhere. I will cull any male the black stripes.

Green means go. I will hold those dudes, until someone speaks to me.

Went to an imaginary baseball game today. Our team won.
Moon came up, we walked home in the dark. 20231227_170914.jpg

Getting tight.

East bed is mostly harvested.
Time to start plugging these little beauties in.

Tossed this Smurf today.

Nice plant, just too early.

Another male Larry Smurf.

Getting some pest pressure. Been huff'n and puff'n the DE around.
Thinking about giving them a sulphur dip, when transplanting.
Formula420 needs to wait 21 days after sulphur, and that is a long haul in the beginning of flower.

None of the good stuff is available up here. DE, Sulphur, and pyre/permethrin is about as good as I have found. Sucks that the Form420 is oil based. Three weeks is a long time. I wish I could find Permethin in a water or alcohol base,,, I don't know if that's really a thing, but it would allow me to IPM more frequently.

Looking great! Nice looking make with fat leaves.

You can dilute iso alcohol 1:10 ratio and mist on veg plants and soil to kill any eggs or soft bodied insects;). I used that when I lived in the middle of nowhere for Ipm.

Essential oils? Have access to those? Make yer own ya dang scientist. Lol
This does a dang fine job for most pests I encounter, and safe to use.
Dr Earth final stop vegetable garden version. They also have fungicide versions etc. Make yer own recipes. Screenshot_20231228_122756_Google.jpg Screenshot_20231228_122811_Google.jpg

If your environment is sealed (doesn't have to be perfect), hot shot no pest strips work great when in veg mode.
Pests can't hide from the vapor. It hits all the nooks & crannies.

I usually overdose with a couple of strips for 24 hrs, then seal in ziploc bag for 3 days to let any eggs hatch.
Put them out again for 24 hrs, then they go to long-term storage. Food saver bags work best, but a big ziploc is fine.
Try not to breath the vapor. It won't kill you, but it's definitely unhealthy.
That's why I don't just leave them out indefinitely...

Just fyi, ive looked into those. Make sure they're not used in flower or around those plants as it can transfer.

Yum !

Doesn't look like those are available up here. I only found one other product on a Canadian website, and they look like a reshipper / drop shipper.

, comes with a tracking number, so I may get my money back eventually, if it doesn't arrive. That's a 150 bucks, more risk it than biscuit.

I’m going to test Ivermectin on spider mites one day. Cheep and it’s said to work well. May even purge my worms lol. And best of all it’s available on Canada.
Spinosad for the thrips if you can find it. Almost one and done. Second app just in case. The ivermectin would work here to.
