save the bees

I agree. Someone is bound to ruin it for everybody.
Same as handguns. I enjoy them, but I don't think anyone should have them.
I'm fine with that. BooHoo for me.
If I can't have one, my neighbor can't have one, which means my enemies can't have them , nor criminals, or teenagers,,
I'm not a hypocrite, it seems like a reasonable trade off.
I really don't have ethical dilemmas in this case. There are three sealed doors between my garden and the outside world. Had one Bee make it into the garage before, but never into the garden. In addition, my hood is pretty cold. Cold enough to stop a Pine Beetle from marching. I only need one or two treatments per round, and I only grow in winter.

K. So I am a hypocrite, talked to myself into it.

Looks like freezing this stuff is specifically mentioned. I'm sure I could find the same warning on a can of WD-40, or a bottle of soda pop, however in this case I do not understand the fundamentals.
Not a 'live' product, although I wonder if it's effectiveness would be destroyed after freezing.

Ya pretty sure you can get it in Canada. Just have to buy the super concentrated bottle for 3 hund. Think I found it in BC, fertilizer online store. Way too much for me. I have a bud that ordered a concentrated bottle out of the US. CapJacks? Works killer on thrips. Not so much on spider mites. Does knock them back. I even dug out the car paint sprayer and put a nice even coat on with no runs haha.
Should just get a bunch of can. Boys together and split a liter of the good stuff. I think I was mixing 15ml/L. Maybe eBay?

Oh and I have bees. Non in my indoor grow room haha. And really, would be safe in a greenhouse because when a bee goes into a greenhouse they usually don’t make it out. Like a fly bouncing off a light bulb. They just try to go up and bounce off the GH plastics till they peter out.
One of my to do lists is screen off my air into my 20x40 to keep all the flying critters out.
I’d vote indoor use only.

Bees arnt attracted to weed. Maybe a male in full pollen mode. They would be interested but all the tictalk vids are bullshit.
I have bees like 20 yards from full flowering ladies and not a one on them.
Nicotinoids are a bad one for the bees. Used on flowering crops like canola. Farmers are not supposed to spray in flower because of all the insects attracted but you know how that works. I don’t think it’s band in Canada yet I think Europe has.
Hmmm wonder how that would work indoors. Little nicotine buzz with the bud lol

What about this?

This version of Bb was discovered in Canada.

Not allowing biological like these is a disservice. I understand making it so not everyone can have the same things. I find it interesting pledging allegiance to a flag used to be enough of a qualification for gun ownership, however now is seen as an unnecessary request.

It is illegal for anyone on this side of the border to search stamped letter mail without a warrant. Curious historic parallels.

Proof of concept.

Those are not legal in Canada.
Spinosad either.
save the bees
question is why illegal , it’s safer than so many approval besides the argument of killing bee’s and very effective towards certain pest. I do and I’m not a guy who promotes products and isn’t blind to danger, if anything I’m ocd about it and a lil extra fearful .

Outdoors yes It has been banned cause farmers will mass spray it on fields and it kills the bee’s (so many will), but is that the same factor as someone using a hand sprayer and spraying their plants but also be in a controlled zone and spraying when suggested to avoid the issue with killing bees aka before sunset/sunrise .
if your growing indoors , those warnings and precautions mean nothing , key is to like majority even water only to spray 2.5 min hrs before lights on. not trying to argue with you but Canada has some overly non allowable pesticide and also makes ur prices more on products cause of the label and proving such. I agree with many bans on pesticides but when u go not allowing spinosad which is very safe , it’s just needs to be used if you were doing acres accordly and issue with is when money is involved people will avoid such and whatcha know u contaminated things or killed beneficial insects like bee’s.

main point is there will be zero issue indoors (bee killing” and the degradation of it there’s no worry of that product having long term contaminate from residue ( light degrades it quickly ) . key to not kill bees outdoors is spray it before sunset/sunrise (1hrish )and also not mass/aerial spray which most of us aren’t in cannabis /home growers.

conserve sc dosage 3ml per gal for everything not mites, 6ml per gallon if mites , works great on hrm 2.key is limiting its use and rotating IPM program.

If you are persistent with IPM thrips never get a stronghold.

Soapy sprays melt the pricks.
Insect soap can def be damaging/stressfull for dosage used for “knockout” , pheno depending from my experiences . Last time I used my des-x which is insect soap I decided to use the higher suggested dosages. Well within 24hr I saw many new clones/seedlings have hardcore leaf stress . there’s many reports and even in manual it def states that stuff burns . so just a side warning use the insect soap lightly on dosage and trial cause man I really fried new pheno’s by that. sucked but live and learn. I know insect soap does work on thrips but like many pest , its Really good to do multi modes of attack and best tool is healthy plants and IPM scanning/pressure analysis

just because it says to not freeze, like u said. almost everything says that and they are trying to also guratee best shelf life

spinosad is

”Spinosad is an insecticide based on chemical compounds found in the bacterial species Saccharopolyspora spinosa. The genus Saccharopolyspora was discovered in 1985 in isolates from crushed sugarcane. The bacteria produce yellowish-pink aerial hyphae, with bead-like chains of spores enclosed in a characteristic hairy sheath.[4] This genus is defined as aerobic, Gram-positive, nonacid-fast actinomycetes with fragmenting substrate mycelium. S. spinosa was isolated from soil collected inside a nonoperational sugar mill rum still in the Virgin Islands. Spinosad is a mixture of chemical compounds in the spinosyn family that has a generalized structure consisting of a unique tetracyclic ring system attached to an amino sugar (D-forosamine) and a neutral sugar (tri-Ο-methyl-L-rhamnose).[5] Spinosad is relatively nonpolar and not easily dissolved in water.[6]

I’m picking up some horse dewormer tomorrow. I have one plant that got the boot out of the veg room. It will be the science test. Maybe one leaf with mite damage. Small maybe 10” plant I’ve been looking at the mites under a dissecting scope. Amazing how many eggs they lay. And they are like 1/4 the size of the mite.
I’ll post any findings.

11:45pm - heater shuts off
11:49pm - 400w mh , on
11:55pm - 400w mh , on
Picture Tells a thousand words 20240112_010858_HDR.jpg heater maintained 21c during lights out
I went in there just after midnight and emptied out 1 L of foliar rinse. Humidity nearly tripled.
I turned my attention to the males, and collected my supply of BlackRomulan×Charastar pollen.
Watered the bed and flipped on the 1k HPS.
That thermometer is on the far side of the room, by the time I was done in there, the thermometer by the door was reading 10C.
I don't like working under orange light; luckily the heater and the HPS are on the same breaker leg, I can extend warm cycle until 12:30.

She is sealed up tight and this all I can throw at it.
All guns blazing.

Finished all the transplanting yesterday, hell of a time to be calving.
Some of it is still a little pissy, I'm thinking everything will be right by morning time.

Good luck the polar shit.
My garden is fine but my water is froze up cock stiff. I was hoping to not have to dig. But it looks like my insulate repair last summer didn’t work. I do have water in the house but it t’s and goes to the shop. That’s where the pressure tank and switch are. So the pump just runs, not to good. Looks like I’m going to have to bundle up and get the diggen tools out.

I want to avoid working outside digging at all cost haha. I know it freezes were it comes out of the ground under the edge of the garage. Dirt has sloughed away. Tryed stuffing dirt under and by put some styrofoam down but I guess it’s too cold.
So being a grower I put some grow/ beer iquip. to work. Haha.
Worked
Shoved hose down to blockage and circulated warm water slowly feeding the tube down. Was solid for 2 feet.
I think I’ll leave the garage sink trickle till the cold snap is over. Maybe I’ll dig it out next summer and spray foam the shit out of it. That would seal it off. Have heat trace shoved down the outer pipe but it must have dirt in it. Stops about ground level.
