My folks had this and a bunch of other fantastic tunes on a 'country hits' type LP when I was a wee'un.
This song always makes me feel something, depending on my state of mind at the time.

The original was one of my favorite Goofy Greats as a kid, but I hadn't heard it for years. Then I stumbled across this ska version. Cool stuff.

I just did a search for the album to see if I remembered it correctly and the first thing I saw was a copy on ebay for $175. Huh.
Anybody else have this one growing up?

We had that one when I was a kid! - Flyin' Purple People Eater was on there too IIRC

I'm thoroughly digging this thread - so many throwbacks, faves & new sounds!

Not a major throwback, but perfect cleaning the garage with a bong on my workbench song (pretty sure there's a workbench in there anyway - time to excavate!).

Plus (as pictured on the cover) Ahab the Arab and Guitarzan. That's awesome that you had it too. ?

One of my fondest memories in the trades was a dirty, difficult job reworking the insides of a (non-nuclear) reactor. It was one of those great crews that just hit it off. I recall singing Guitarzan inside the hole as we worked, different guys taking the roles of Guitarzan himself, plus Jane and the Monkey. We laughed our asses off doing a job nobody else wanted.

I really enjoyed the Tribal Seeds tune you posted here.

It's cool to shoot the shit and to share with others of diverse and eclectic tastes.

Somehow though, over the years, I've ended up enjoying this version as much as the original.

(If you haven't checked them out beyond 500 Miles, they've had a long and successful career and have a lot of great songs.)

The absolute legend and multi time Grammy winner Rock Roll performing one of his many hit songs in a rare appearance on live TV.

I've always loved this piece of music, but the sound of this recording space - bathroom reverb on steroids - seems to really fill in the sound nicely.

Really enjoyed that. I haven't watched a lot of live classical performances but when I have I've been fascinated by the personality they bring to their playing.

I added this one to my Instrumental playlist a while back, so I've heard it a few times lately and enjoy it more each time. It takes me a bit to switch off my "western music ear" so I can start getting into it, but within a minute or so I'm rocking out.

(Can you rock out to sitar? Whatever the appropriate word, I'm groovin', daddio . :carlton:;) )

A bunch of easterners and a token Ontarian ? rocking (tradding?) out. This was released in '89. I had it on cassette. ?

There guys are hit and miss for me, but their good stuff is really good, imo.

Another band I was introduced to by a single on a K-tel compilation LP. Always really enjoyed this one. It's pretty straight ahead pop/rock, but with a cynicism that appealed to me even as a kid.

My absolute favorite Iron Maiden song, from my favorite Maiden album. It is so different lyrically from anything else they've written, imo, and the final verse still gives me chills.

Cant you see
Not just me
they want YOU too

^^Damn, that was a bit of a trip, wasn't it? o_O

I don't see a lot of re-listens, but I'm glad I clicked on that. :)

She has some good songs. But I prefer this version.

I just went and found the lyrics and I like her more as a writer than a vocalist, if this song is typical. She has a good flow, but her voice has qualities that don't appeal to me.
