Man just dip down into Ohio...it's full of blue cats... Excellent on the smoker toooooo...Alot of ppl don't even know them yellow belly bullhead cats are prime eating too... Possibly the best ones

I actually have caught a Bullhead before; I have no issue eating those :) Apparently the reason they don't get very big is because they're so good at surviving, which, makes sense as Bullheads are Catfish and will eat and eat and grow, but if they over populate areas they end up fighting over the same food. I know some guys use them as live bait for Flatheads but I'm not so sure I could put a cute little Catfish on a hook alive lol.

Left home, it was calm. Got to the lake, there was a light breeze. Inflated the boat, there were whitecaps. :headwall:

Tried casting off the dock for a bit, hoping the wind would die but no such luck. Deflated and packed up the boat. (n)

Drove over to scout a nearby lake I'd not visited and while there, watched fingerling trout jump and learned of a third lake that was only a few hundred yards away, from a county employee. I went in for a look. It's supposed to have good perch and is not well known. Going to go back in the winter and see if I can find them.

So I didn't do any fishing(other than casting off the dock for a few minutes), but added two new lakes to my list. I'll call that breaking even for the trip.

Picked up a few delphinium (pacific giant black knight) on my way home, planted them by the fence when I got here and then transplanted a young oak tree to finish off the useful part of my day.

Then I smoked weed and fucked around. : )

Sometimes Mother Nature can be a bitch and just reminds you who’s boss . I’d say you’d be used to that as well .
It’s like that old western : The good , the bad and the ugly …….oh yeah and the smoke weed and fuck around ??

Hey, good to see you. Hope you are all recovered and back to your normal self.

It has actually been a very unusual winter and spring, weather wise. The winter was longer and colder with much more snow than normal. Spring was very late and has been very dry, and the mountain run-off hasn't even started yet. It's also been much more windy than normal for this region. All in all it's made for pretty rough fishing this spring.

Fingers crossed for a decent summer. Starting to feel like I kinda earned it. ;)

Yeah I’m mostly back to normal besides my ongoing mental issues ?.
We had a very mild Summer as well speaking of unusual weather . That’s the second mild Summer in a row . Maybe a few days over 30C and the rest were all mid 20s which is very unusual for us . No 40+ days either which we always get ??‍♂️.
Well I hope Summer brings better fishing conditions for you guys.
I need more international fishing pics from the other side of the equator.

Yeah well, we're used to that. :devilish:

As long as you are properly isolated on your island prison, it's all good. :ROFLMAO:
Oh jeez once upon a time it was only the Poms that reminded us of our convict heritage , usually after we beat them in sport .
I guess like herpes some things just never go away .
There’s plenty more room if your tax evasion or whatever ever catches up with you ??

Summer hasn't actually started yet here so if you packed up your shit.... ;)
Mate seriously I am chopping to travel again . It’s been too long and life is way too short .
I love my job but I hate going to work if that makes sense ( I did say I had mental issues )
It’s like work is just an interference and distraction on actually living life .
I need to invent something quick that’ll propel me into a lavish lifestyle.
I dunno maybe windscreen wipers on sunglasses in winter ?
Something groundbreaking .

The offer is appreciated, but if I ever have to go on the lam I figure it'll be a bit easier to hide in this

than in this. ;)

You had to go and pick the only little patch of dirt in Oz that looks like that . Just around that corner is a rainforest .
Ok the corner might go for 3000 kilometres until you reach Queensland but it’s there ……..somewhere .
How the hell do you find your way out of that forest after a 100 metres in ?

If you can track you can basically follow your own broken sticks and laying grass tracks back to where you started, or just use tape or a reflector like they do here. Personally our woods have a river running through parts of it, so I use that to be honest.

I want nothing to do with either of your woods . You got like Grizzly bears and mountain lions and shit .
I’ll take my chances with snakes and spiders and bugs

Yeah but there's plenty of guns too. Besides we don't have Bears this far south as of yet. Gotta drive way north to taste those. Now the Wild Cats are real, but I haven't ever had a problem. Ticks and Mosquitoes are the main nuisance if you don't count the young hikers LOL.

Out of curiosity, I just checked and you do indeed have more room down there than up here, but just barely.

We have 3.92 people per square km while you are at 3.37.

For perspective our common motherland, the UK, is 281.18 people per square km and the US is 34.05.

I did kind of notice the last time I drive straight up through the middle to Alice Springs I didn’t see anyone for hours .
Gets kind of lonely in a good way .

Probably the main thing is you have to know the basic layout of the land and have a mental map with defined boundaries. For example, in a particular area, I will know that river A is to the west, Range Road X is to the south, Twp road W is to the north and there is a distinctive ridge to the east.

Once I've established that, the big picture is that I can't really get lost. If I do get disoriented, I just go in a straight line until I recognize a boundary or landmark.(to go straight, pick a tree or something for a goal. when you reach it, use it and your previous mark to establish your next goal, repeat as neccessary.)

On a smaller scale, there are game trails everywhere in the bush. They can be hard to recognize without experience, but you can probably find one that goes in the general direction you need to go. You learn to read the general terrain so you can generally avoid dead-ending at a swamp of cliff or other un-passable obstacle. Another important tip is to look behind you regularly as you travel, so it looks familiar on the way out.

I've mentioned it numerous times: I'm way more comfortable in there than out in the open. :)
