Feeling attacked lol
We all make our choices.

Every intelligent person says that it is unwise to go into the bush alone. If you do, you should always let someone know where you are going and when you will be back. In areas where animal encounters are likely you should have some sort of protection: bear spray, bear banger, firearm, etc.
I break all the rules all the time, and I expect to eventually pay the price.

Yeah, that one even made the news over here. What a shitty way to go.

I never know how to feel when someone is attacked by a wild animal they tried to keep as a pet. It almost feels like it was inevitable.
I get your point and often think when people own exotic pets it’s a ticking time bomb . Example : domestic dogs descended from wolves have been part of our lives for centuries yet every now and then even the old family friendly dog will attack its owner . Can you ever truly remove the old instinct from an animal ? I watch our Bully head whip sometimes knowing that’s exactly what they’d do in the wild as a finishing move on prey and yet he’s the most loving loyal creature you could have . Never and 100% guarantee with any animal .
If I was to guess I’d say the Roo came of age where it would normally be interacting and challenging other Roos it lashed out at the next best thing .

I think I posted about my experiences with a wolf cross while ice fishing last year. The owners let it run free and it would come at me from my blind side and try to get a reaction.

It seems like every few years we read about a pet chimpanzee ripping off someone's face.
People being stomped, sometimes to death, by "pet" deer is not uncommon.
People raise a baby and then the animal reaches adolescence and starts lashing out like this roo did.

Like you say, even the animals we domesticated thousands of years ago still have those wild genes and you don't know when some of that will come through. Look at domestic pigs. You let them go feral and within months their hair gets longer, those tusks grow into terrifying weapons, and they become one of the most vicious, intelligent and dangerous creatures in the wild.

I'm conflicted on "exotic" pets wit the number of them i love dearly LOL. My Red Tail fully grown, would be fully capable of drowning me. However the reason they are fairly safe to keep as pets, is that they are one of the few species of large Catfish capable of learning who their owners are, and loving them. I know of a dude who had one in a pool and he'd hop in, and his Red Tail would swim up to him and play.

I'd love to have a Piraiba as a pet, or a Goonch, or a Jau, but not only do I NOT have the space (Imagine a fish that easily gets larger than a human, and in fact gets to large they eat them) that's a huge amount of water you'd need to keep one, and even though when I had Piranhas as pets a simple partition could keep you safe during cleaning, even bullet proof glass wouldn't stop a Piraiba from nailing you if it wanted to.

Wolves.... I like dogs, I LOVE Wolves... In Michigan it's legal if it's 2% Dog.... So it can be 98% Wolf but has to have some Dog in there. I doubt me nabbing a baby Wolf and smoking Chemdog with it is what the DNR means so, no Wolf for me as of yet. Same thing with a Jaguar or a Leopard.... I LOVE Cats, and I LOVE the Leopard Print / Jaguar Print pattern, so having one of those would be wonderful, but once that Cat is 40+ pounds.... I'm totally on the menu, and can only hope that it loves me back enough to let me go.

Again, I don't go to the Zoo.... I'd ride a Jaguar right out and to the car, cause, the fuck they gonna do ? A 300 pound top predator.... LOL.

Wels Catfish are illegal in Michigan (And pretty much every state as far as I know) and though they are totally adorable when they're 1 foot long babies, they grow HUGE. There'd be no hopping in with him for a swim once he was over 50 pounds, because they're capable of drowning you. And an adult, much worse. Same with the Goonch which is totally legal; After he's over 6 feet long....And people in India report them at over 10 feet which is large enough to fit a grown man in the stomach.

The Struggle is real; Some people see creeping death, I see a snuggle pile. Don't take me to a Zoo without bail money and a tranq dart. Or a pound of Cheese; Whatever you got to work with haha.

Managed to haul my ass back out to the river today, and took my phone with me to snap a few pics. Conventional wisdom tells me, "Take a camera, forget the big fish," and that held true for me today. Caught a whole bunch of fish, but nothing over 12 or 13" all day - the shoalie pictured was the biggie. I did want to include a picture of a Shoal Bass, because they look so different, with their bars running vertically. OK by me if they're dinks, though, I'm in it for the action, not the trophies. The nicest 8 weeks of the year are starting in Georgia now - got below 60 last night! The water will clear and drop very low, then I can run around on the shoals and get to holes I can't reach the rest of the year. Just happy to get out! Tight lines, fellow angler/stoners!

Same spot as above at noon - you can see how dirty the water is.

Sonofabitch. This is just wrong. This is going to blow my river out for weeks, possibly. I'll be fishing Wed. or Thur. for sure.
I am roughly on that white line across GA. Sonofabitch.

To be blunt ……fuck that !!!
Dunno how it must feel to be in the line of fire seasonally almost every year .
As Iron Maiden once sang “ Run to the hills “

Right? I'm hanging on in the hope of being beachfront one day soon!
Lived in Florida a few times, and hurricane season was the worst - and it's not getting any better, either.
Here, we'll just get a bunch of rain and maybe someone will lose a big pine tree - hope it's not me!
