Well I did not bring down the DP as planned last weekend, but I plan for the ax to drop tomorrow. 3C22BA56-D2A0-411D-828C-CF6479B5B717.jpeg 3CCF4F90-046F-4FEA-8B17-AFA38313E36D.jpeg 370A35AA-3E68-4DCE-B836-6550F0ADDBE2.jpeg 0E247BD2-054C-4918-A786-08F9EB40D50B.jpeg
Saturday will be day 71 from flip to 12/12.
She has bulked up well and the buds feel really dense.
I’m excited to see how the buzz is with this strain. I’ve never grown anything anywhere close to it before.
Cheers,
WillieP

Brought the Durban Poison down today.
Really nice solid buds, that had turned some pretty cool colors.
Trimmed all the fan leaves off of it by hand, then ran it through a bowl trimmer.
I have it in a drying rack now, time will tell how much weight there was.
Overall I am happy with the grow in general, although there were some issues along the way. But one does not improve their growing skills without a little strife.
I will move the '1968' over to the flower tent tomorrow, and will be able to start two new strains from seed as well. (I shit canned the hempy bucket plant, just couldn't get the PH squared away)
I have a maximum plant count of five. 1968 to flower, a Bruce Banner and a Missouri Northern Light X Atomic Bomb in 2 gallon fabric pots of soil, and will be able to have two new strains. One of them will be the M99 that @MO_Grow was kind enough to provide and I will have to look through the seeds to determine the other. Decisions, decisions, decisions...
Cheers,

That plant looks awesome! Nice work bud!! Not trying to throw shade at all, but why the wet trim? Have you tried dry trimming yet? Completely changed the game for me when I first tried and I'll never go back... Just some food for thought brotha ?
What up MO.
No offence taken at all, my friend.
To be honest, this is only my third ever harvest and I just don't know any different.
I did change the process a little when I had access to the bowl trimmer. At first I would wet trim and then hang the branches till they were dry enough to bag. Next I cut the buds from the stems and put in large brown paper bags until I reached a RH of 65%, then into quart jars with hydrometers to verify RH.
Now I have just skipped the hang on the stems step. I cut all the fan leaves off (to not screw up the trim 'shake' for edibles), run though the bowl trimmer, and hang in a collapsible 'herb drying rack' till dry enough to bag and then jar.
That was a long way of saying I've never tried dry trimming.
What is your process, and why do you feel it's better? Do you hang the plant whole? (I have read that this helps slow the drying process)
I am open to your (and all other's) input.
Cheers,
WillieP

? What Frim said. Slows down the drying process and results in better terps in the end product. When I first started I harvested branch by branch and wet trimmed cause I didn't know any better. Then I tried hanging whole plant and dry trimming and it made me start getting great smells and flavors. Got a lot of hay-like/clorophyll type smells and tastes until I started dry trimming. Honestly, try it if at least on one plant to test... I'm sure you'll understand then. Keep up the good work bro!

Hey all,
Just a follow up on the Durban Poison harvest.
I tried a test vape of the trim, because the buds are still to wet.
In attempting to describe the high to my wife I said 'that will take the lazy out of ya'.
Very euphoric and energetic!
Lets say you were at a party and having a great time, unfortunately you get called away for something.
But then you were able to get the problem cleared up, and return to the party.
That feeling of excitement as you rejoin your friends is what this high felt like to me.
Just on the edge of a grin...all the time.
I tend to group the effects of cannabis into two categories, getting high and getting stoned.
This is definitely, getting high.
I only took two hits and the high lasted 1.5-2 hours. Very enjoyable.
I'm not much for giving a smoke report, but I hope you get the idea.
Cheers,
WillieP

PS
I went through my seed selection and have decided that the next two strains I will try are the M99 from @MO_Grow and a Pineapple Express.

Pineapple express is actually one of the best I've smoked . What a banger ?

Just as a reminder everyone has their preferred methods, I actually half wet trim and half dry trim and use a Wedryer rack to dry my buds individually and prefer the results. I hang whole plants sometimes in the winter when my basement is dry but in the summer, even with the dehumidifier cranking it's just too humid down there and I don't like the end result when I hang whole. I think a lot of times the drying environment has a big impact on what method works best. Definitely try hanging whole next time just to see which you prefer though... just keep an open mind!

Also, that DP looks amazing, nice work Willie!

Thank you GC for your kind words.
I totally agree that the drying environment is a huge factor in the outcome of the dry and cure.
One could be in the high dessert of Colorado, or the southern coast of Mississippi.
It could be the heat of August, or the cold of January.
Ideally we would all have a temperature and humidity controlled dry and curing areas, (and some people actually do), however, most of us are not that fortunate.
We need to do the best we can with what we have to work with.
If you have successfully found drying and curing methods that work well for you in your unique environment, then cheers to you. :superhappydance:

A fully climate controlled drying room would be amazing... not something my little house has room for, but a man can dream
