20231007_190716.jpg Never had a "Cold IPA" before but man its really good. Had to look it up... apparently its a newer beer style, only invented in 2017, and its basically fusing ale and lager fermenting techniques? I dont actually know what that means but its a super smooth drinkable beer.

Top or bottom fermentation. Be interesting to try a hybrid!

Yeah, Im curious what the actual process is, because if its just bottom fermented isnt it just a hoppier lager? Either way, its a good beer and Id be interested in trying more. A buddy of mine whos more into the beer scene told me theyre actually really trendy right now, but this is the first time Ive seen it

I think it would depend on when, and how, they add the Hops in. I haven't ever made Beer myself, which....Being German and Irish is probably weird... Then again I've only grown Potatoes once too LOL... But yeah I think you can add in Hops at different stages, and, I have seen a Beer that was made just from the "resin" of a Hops plant.... To be honest, it sounded more like making Beer from Kief than from buds, and the taste was pretty much that LOL. It had that almost sticky flavor and intensity you'd expect. I can't remember the name though sadly :( It was that good LOL.
I liked the marzen, it's funny even in legalization we still get so into the weed convos I'm sure some eyebrows were raised.
Maerezen should be a tasty one, as it's the one you drink in March in Germany :) I'm not sure how to do an Umlaut on this keyboard, so, I spelled it with the E after the A, which is standard.

You're thinking of lupulin! Yes, it is essentially hop kief.

"Ever look at a whole cone hop and see a yellow powder clinging to the green leaves? That’s lupulin, a naturally occurring substance in hops that plays a large part in giving the plant its characteristic scents and flavors.

In other words, lupulin contains many of the hop acids and essential oils that make beer so delicious. In fact, when brewers add hops to their beer, it’s largely with the intention of extracting these very acids and oils. The plant matter from the hop cone itself is usually discarded."

You're also correct in terms of adding hops at different stages. The classic West Coast IPA is generally wet-hopped, the newer East Coast DIPA styles are generally dry hopped. Wet hopping adds significantly more bitterness, but also preserves the beer (which was the original point of the IPA style), while dry-hopping adds a ton in the way of terpenes.

Dry-hopping makes good beer great! 🔥

LOL that was the easiest way for my brain to remember what I had drank that day haha. I knew from reading the can that they used just the "Kief" LOL, part of it, and after tasting it, and knowing Hops is a cousin to Cannabis, it just made sense to me to call it that, but yeah, it was stunning in flavor :)

I have a pack of Hacker Pschorr Maerzen !! I was surprised to see it to be honest. Second time in a week I've found this brand of Beer. The Weiss Bier is all my time favorite beer ever, so, I'll see how this one goes later on. We're at my Mom's for Easter Dinner right now.
