Something I've read before but not shared:
exodus cheese clone still active 2022
pretty sure it was the late 80s early 90s when she emerged from the exodus crew and she was always passed out in pairs ( 1 to keep 1 to pass on) this is how i encountered her the 1st time around
was always meant to shared out but never sold as the exodus crew were anti-establishment ... which to be fair nobody comes between you and your creator unless you allow it ....
thought id share a few pics and my opinions on her ...
undoubtly if you grew up in the uk you will of heard the term cheese many a times... she is a legend in her own right but its very rare people get the real deal these days but when she does grace your pressence its a next level experience .... she is 100% a strain to have in your mom room just for her uniqueness and the high of proper exodus cheese is different ... the same as amnesia core cut and stardawg ... they all hit different but the exodus high is 1 of my favs (proper skunk)
she is easily an 11 on the smell-ometer .. right from clone she will have a unique perfume on the stem rub and it does stain your fingers .... her aroma only gets louder and complex the more she grows... 9 weeker
in veg as in the pics she smells like dank earthy lincolnhire sauagemeat ... but you cant help.but smile at her aroma when in her pressence ..
she cant be reversed as she doesnt produce pollen which means you can only breed into her ...
but as soon as you breed into her her off-spring will only slightly resemble the mom as in you can tell the exoudus is in the cross but your not getting the full resonance/taste of the mother... anything this clone touches will turn to gold but im more for the love of the plant rather than love of the.money....
she is a true elite ...
her terp and taste and effects are unique to the this cut.... nobody ever forgets their encounter with the cheese....
ive been alot of places and smoked loads of strains but nobody has cheese as good as the uk ...
she grows like an indica but hits like a sativa... my sheff blues grows very similar and in the same amount of time but both have very different effects ... sheff blues is my fav lady but exodus and amnesia close 2nd ... but all 3 are true elites
finished product ... neon green flowers ... holds the flava right until the last hit ... she is earthy floral lavender slighty sweet with the chemical skunky dank back drop .... its the complexity of the flavas and how they mix together and fold into each other and she always leaves a nice after taste on the pallette like a floral chemical earthy niceness ...
the thing with growing exodus or decent skunks in general is you only have to brush the plant once and the smell will follow you for hours...
Some identifying features of their original 89 cutting....now obviously over time an differing long-term conditions some clones may have degraded or picked up slight mutations..eg the bit of orange spotting that began to show up on some....but most still should show these traits in varying degrees... the huge prominent twisting calyxes.....a silvery sheen to the flowers which under some lighting conditions makes the leaves aswell have a almost blueish looking tint....another main tell tale feature, despite the now commonly believed trait of the original having lots of double serations on the leaves on the original real cutting this isnt true...there are some double serations here an there but mostly not...however on some of the middle blade leaf finger on the main fans it would show just on one side of the leaf roughly in the middle of the leaf finger 3 double serations together, an with most leaves not showing double serations an the opposite side of the same blade none it would stand out an become a identification feature.....one other thing..on most main leaves more so visible in flower, the middle leaf blade finger would be longer....long enough were compared to other copies it was distinct enough coupled with other identifying features were you could tell the true cut apart from others.
Just some information that may help others who come across cuttings in the future
as for the exodus reversing she doesnt as she is infertile which means she doesnt produce pollen which is also what makes her stand out as you can only breed into her ....
^ That right there makes me a bit sad. A lot of this, comes from my trying my best to figure out what actually happened. I'm not sure really, how much of this stuff is verified, but some of these guys seem to "speak from experience", and some of it, I can "sort of" verify based on visual / scent comparison of the.....I'm not sure how many Cheese plants I've grown now LOL. But some of the stuff they say, DOES add up. Some of it confused me when I'd have different crosses running, and I'd keep on seeing similar traits.
The Christmas Tree look, that I've referred to as the "Cheese look" sems to be pretty on point. The taste of chemicals and cleaning products was something I've discerned myself; At first I thought I was tasting a trait passed on by the male of a cross, but, almost every Cheese has this that I've had. I feel like this is decently good info in this way, as I've got a LOT of Cheese, and they do all have a pretty distinct flavor in them that I thought was coming from something else.
It's 4/20, and I felt like taking some time to see what I've learned over the years. It's no secret that Cheese is the main reason I am so much into growing and, well, Weed in general.
On this day of Weed, I think we could all sit for a moment, and think back to that one time, where Weed became a part of our lives. For me, it was Blue Cheese. I didn't care much for weed back before that. To me, weed was an intoxicant, and not one I really enjoyed very much. Of course, this was in the days of "Weed is Weed" and no one knew if the Entourage Effect was real or not.
I didn't care much about weed at all back then. I never truly enjoyed it. All the strains I'd run into just were NOT for me. And that was my problem; I had no idea that a strain could be different in so many ways. To me, THC was all anyone talked about, and, well, in my mind, at the time, "THC is THC, so why would it be any different?" and I stayed in that ignorant state for a long time. Not ever once thinking I would smoke much.
Then one day, an ex buddy of mine, said he wanted me to stop at a guy's house, because the dude had grown some Blue Cheese, and it was "his favorite strain" and he's like "I know you don't really smoke, or care, but if you don't mind, this is special" and I'm like "OK man I'll stop over".
I still remember this somehow... He came out, and hopped in, and I new instantly that what he had, was NOT something I'd seen before... The smell alone came permeating out in every direction... I was STUNNED. I'd NEVER smelled something like this before in my entire life. I knew right away that this was, indeed, something special.
I've mentioned before my hard drug use that I used to do, and that was why he and I were driving that day actually. We were headed to Detroit for dope. I'd heard people say "well if you're coming off it, just smoke weed, it'll help" and my experience was not EVER that. Sometimes it even made it worse.
Well, he has me stop at a store, and grabs papers, and rolls up a joint of this Blue Cheese, MAN that smell..... I of course had no problem hitting THAT joint. The taste... Oh man the taste she has.... Again, I was stunned. The smell, the taste, ALL of it came together into the most wonderful Weed experience I'd ever had at the time. NOTHING was like THIS.
We're driving down to Detroit, and the effects start hitting. I'm in literal disbelief at this point.... EVERYTHING I thought I knew about Cannabis had just been flipped over. For the very first time in my entire life, I not only loved weed, I cared about the name of a strain, and now had something to look for that actually DID help.
This was new uncharted territory for me. I'd never cared like this before. I'd never considered that I'd try to grow it before. I was so intrigued by this strain, that I had to find it again. I actually started to feel a bit better before we even made it to Detroit that night.
Sometimes I'm still in shock that this happened the way it did. I had smoked some weed before, but as I said, they didn't really do it for me. The dude ended up giving me a few buds of the Blue Cheese, and I smoked those until they were gone.
Fast forward some years later, and I still hadn't forgot about Blue Cheese. My ex Wife and I were done with, and I'd moved on. And then one day, Michigan went legal. Now I'm with the Wife, and we're at a friend's house, and he has clones. He just happened to have Blue Cheese. I got one clone, and got to grow her out for my VERY first grow.
It's only fitting that the strain that changed my outlook on weed would be the one I grew for the first time. That all lead me on a path to where I am now. Of course I added things to my list of strains I love, but, no surprise that Cheese ALWAYS is on top, every time, every year, I have Cheese. It's the inspiration for me caring about weed in the first place.
So, on this 4/20, I hope everyone has a great day, and maybe take a moment, and think back, to that one time, when weed became a part of YOUR life too
Happy 4/20 everyone
