This is the one I'm looking for, when I first walk into the room. 20240126_234324.jpg

She is lovely.
No nonsense, no stretching, no branching. She just wants to sit there and get fat, I'm okay with that.

This bed is at a major dis advantage in not having an established root system, as such I have been diligently foliar feeding.
Gonna pinch off the N , starting to look wonky. Saturated.

Of my own creations, she is leading the way. Those buds are looking choice, to me.
I hate to concede, but some of the store-bought stuff is truly rep'n, GhostTown, RedHotCookies, and DieselTangie are smothering some of my stuff.

Heavy DE action was turning in pistils. I laid off the puffer, and things are whitening up.
Pollen time.
I am going to have to twist my masking tape, like a bow tie.
I got no branches and not enough internode spacing to label my brushstrokes.

Happy Day !
DDan delivered the goods.
I got an ipm arsenal on par with any Hoser you know.

Before I can formulate a plan, I will bring you up to speed on the current situation.
20240128_011852.jpg

Just a few weeks above ground , I had pest pressure.
Whitefly, juvenile thrips, and twospot mites.
Started huffing the Dichotomous Earth around heavily on January 1st
Sulphur knocked whitefly out immediately, on the 7th.
I continued with my DE regimen:
day one- puff DE
day 2 - mist/rinse tops
day 3- wash undersides
Repeat

As Bud started forming, I became more stingy with the DE, and stopped all together last week.

During the dark period I try to get in there to mist the undersides of the canopy. Bloom formula, fluvic acid, head and shoulders.
Mites like it dry, and I've got way too much of that.

Luckily, and surprisingly- this has worked quite well.
I scope leaf everyday, and I haven't seen nothing alive for more than a week.

I am 3 weeks after the Sulphur treatment, and I had planned to go ahead with a Formula 420 session.

I can't see them now, but I know those mite bastards don't just disappear.
Ever.
Probably wise to go in with the heavy hand, follow up with my newly received Elite elixirs.

Not too shabby.
Getting down near 50 cents per watt.
Two of those in a 4×4? ,,, Dang!

Folks that live an hour drive south of me could have that in their tent next week for $275 bucks.

For me, it does not play out so well.
For 2, after shipping, we are looking at about 800 of my dollars.
200 has disappeared for exchange, and another 200 goes directly to the American government as tariff.
No thanks.

The technology is maturing to the point where it is superior to my HPS system.
Still, the price of admission is just too high.
Given a 5-year life expectancy, the given time to recover investment is still -never.

Dont count Jewels out of the LED game, just yet. I have been stockpiling aluminum and fan modules.
One day I will have a DIY I.R. LED rig.
IR, in this case, stands for insurance risk.🐇

That makes me sad and sorry we have to put up borders and hurdles just to screw our neighbors when we should be doing what we can, so we all have an easier, better day.

There is a dude selling LED about 15 min drive from me quite cheep. They are UV spec. For raising black soldier flys. The drivers are quite cheep. 2 different voltages for each light 20 and 54v off hand. picked up one to try but haven’t given them a go yet. I think 4 of the driver panels were 150$ wich is cheeeep I think there are 4 drivers in each panel maybe 6, would be a good DIY start if you could match with strips or something. Can’t remember what the lights were going for. He has them separate. There is no cord to go from the drivers to ligjt. You would have to make them. I did test and they do work. They recomend uv eye protection. They are all new. Guessing bankruptcy sale came from Calgary.
I do still have new 600w 4 fixture available as well. Sealed with cooling fins. Plug and play. Been running them for 4 or so years. Good lights. If you’re interested PM me.

Both are from G2V in Edmonton. All HLG drivers.
Knowing your set up out in the garage. You’re going to have heat problems in winter with the LED. They don’t put out a lot of heat.

The fly UV bars showing the 2 different V channels.

Hard to make that leap.
These HID E-ballasts are inexpensive and put out good light.
Like ya said, the heat has to come from somewhere.
1.8K of hid did me down to 40. After dark, 1500W milkhouse coil ran 12hrs straight. Was enough to keep the aquarium water 22C steady.

Coco pile is worked down to fines and bald root.
Action is all mechanical during winter. Slabs break down with freeze/thaw cycles.
I flatten it out while it is snowing. I pile it all back up afterwards.

Come spring, I will inoculate it with leaf litter and pond sludge.
A large portion of this will be sun baked and put in rubbermaids for rabbit litter/bedding.
Mixed %50 with compost makes good garden soil.
Mixed lighter and with added shale makes great container soil.
Soiled litter is ready for duty and skips the cue, it is mixed in to finished product in order to produce premium cannabis media.

Fresh dung can be treated as perlite, as far as mechanical traits go. That is say your soil will water the same. If you keep it under 20% of total matter, you will probably hardly notice that it is even in there , apart from the positive effects.
