The Misadventures of Captain Sternn in the Cannaverse

My next update will be about Tuesday maybe Monday but I'm pretty pleased, enough of the grow is doing well I'm less worried about where I'll be left at harvest time. Rains are coming through well timed and well proportioned for the most part. Later today when I see the next round is near, I'm going to give them a blast of the Fels bug juice and let the rain rinse them down.

So lately I've been thinking ahead a bit to next years grow and what I would like to be in it. I'm certain whatever I do I want to include some of the offerings put forward by creators here on the board, there is all kinds of good and interesting things going on in these parts. Today I wanted to ask if @Senokai or anyone else who has bought from The Landrace Team could tell me if their purchase and grow of TLT was a good experience. Mainly I'd like to know if they ship from inside the US. I'd like to start including something landrace each year but I don't feel great about taking a delivery from outside USA. So if anyone can make a suggestion re landrace beans that would ship from inside US, I'll give it a look, there's going to be time for bud porn today it seems.
I did not have a good customer experience with The Landrace Team. I ran Pakrai 75 and it wasn't a bad plant by any means. It was one of their in house crosses of two land races so I was curious. So they did ship direct to me internationally. The seeds I bought were mostly all smashed. The packaging was just awful. As in there was no protection for the seeds. It was a bit of a struggle to get them to send replacements. They did replace so there is that.

Thank you for your time chiming in, that must have been f'n aggravating I'm glad they came across with replacements for you.

Well shit. My Durban from seed, which has just been bumpin', pushing about 3 sets of leaves a day, has flopped out balls. Kinda saw it coming and already had this thought through. I'm going to watch real close, they are just barely out. As soon as they're out good before the sacs get too swollen and burst, I will cage it, bag it cage and all, and cut it off. Take it out away from everything for a couple days with the top of that plant hanging in it drying and when it's ready I'll set that apparatus down over the smaller Grape Cheese and try to pollinate it.

I really hate to lose the yield I would have got from a fem, and then compound that loss by losing a bit more impregnating the GC, but screw it. I'll get by and maybe if it works out I might get seeds of a fast version Durban grape cheese cross ? Durbani Grappa Fromage :D

I was sooo happy with that plant it was just growing like crazy. I hate worrying about how my inventory will sit after harvest but when you're strictly outdoors you'll get that.

Yeah, I see a couple balls I think. Are they all over or just there?
Can you get some better pics by chance?
I've had some throw balls early, picked em off and they didn't come back. Had the other happen too though, where they show up and multiply. Lol.
You've got a bit of time to pluck and see imho.

They're right along the stalk in 2 maybe 3 spots. I think you're right I have more time than I thought, they are kinda slow coming on compared to the way it's shooting into the sky. I figured they'd be swinging around by now but they look about the same, so imma get my butt out there and pick them off and see what happens. At least I've got a plan either way 😀

Sorry about the poor pics guys I never was much good at them haha

Some plants are worth neutering :)
I went out to rid it of the offensive appendages, they still haven't popped big yet, but there's more than I thought coming on in the side branches.

Also it seems like it's too late to dust the smaller grape cheese, pretty sure it's been flowering too long for that. Best I can come up with is watch it close and when the time is right I will cut it, dry it and collect pollen along the lines @Buck5050 described in his pollen collecting write up, useful info. Store it for some future misadventure.

Update time I guess. The Grape Cheese autos are filling out with buds. Popped them May 1, they don't look to me like they're even thinking about fading so I went ahead and gave them bloom nutes but I'll be cutting those off one day soon and go back to plain water before harvesting. The smell they are throwing is real grapey and getting loud. IMG_1298.jpg

Foreground is the Durban male making its last appearance. It just had exceeded the clone in height and then pow, balls.

Hindu Kush #2 - All these clones that were stalled for what seemed like forever are now shooting out a lot of new growth.

Durban clone blowing up yay

Northern Lights - very slow to reveg but it did, so still pretty sparse but by chop time it will have come a long way

Hindu Kush #1 - Also pushing new growth

I did not get a pic of FSRB but it's still around. Very sparse and even slower to reveg than the NL, but it did and also pushing a bit of new growth. I wonder now if I should have stripped it weeks ago, might have helped ? Not much to report really. Battling a few bugs here and there, waiting on some tomatoes to ripen and the autos to finish. I can see the grow from my pool, the last light of the evening falls on the plants and with the new growth they've pushed they get this luminous Green Lantern glow that I enjoy.

I appreciate you saying so, actually I just was looking at what you have going on and dang you've got some gorgeous plants :weedleaf: I lol'd at the one you could smell outside the house haha good times. Those wee little cheeses are kind of symbolic to me, if they finish properly they'll be the first autos I've gotten across the finish line and I don't care so much about the yield right now, if I can learn to get them done I can get better from there.

The can is an ice cold Miller High Life, it seems to be about the most gut friendly beer that's readily available. I also like Yuengling Black & Tan, and Honey Brown. The wife is going to the big city this weekend to see the kids and going to bring me back some HB.

It's a well worn huggie from '06, by rights I should have lost it a long time ago like I have others that I liked better.

Those wee Cheeses are special for me too :)
I just was out there knocking around, stem rub on the side branches of the bigger one smell like cheese again. The smaller one is more like a stick with bud on it. grapey

They're both filling out with bud (y) I won't need a wagon to haul it in but for me just getting them done would be an accomplishment.

In my experience, most Cheese strains will go back and forth on the smell all the way through flower; Like, every one I've grown has a smell that will change as it grows, and then, the smell you have when it gets the chop, won't likely be the same as when it's cured a while. It's kind of fun because you open that up and get a new fantastic smell like every time haha.

Grape Cheese would be an interesting mix :) I know if I could, I'd have a male Purple Chemdog to dust a few Cheeses with :)
