After reading a bit, and seeing that selfing a plant can bring out recessive traits.... Am I grabbing the wrong end of that particular stick by thinking that, through selfing specific plants, I'd be able to get the recessive traits of Cheese, from a Skunk #1 plant, with some experimental selfing ?

The thing Schwaggy wrote about using Feminzed seeds for breeding has me thinking about this. Cheese would appear to be a recessive trait somewhere in the genetics of Skunk #1, or we'd have seen a lot more of it by now. Just pondering.

indeed. there is much more to this subject than i can really put down, still learning myself. but if my voyage into OG is anything similar, it looks like you are on the same path with cheese.

F2s seem to kick out more recessives in my experience. An S1 would push some recessives out, of a large population you might find a few. an S2 would potentially put out more to select from however, despite being potentially more hermie prone. again i'm still learning, and havent spent that much time hands on breeding for recessives specifically, but being able to spot them and ID them is the real key i would say.

Just remember it might not be possible with just one skunk#1 example. I have no real clue how much work went into making skunk, but imagining years of line work with regular seedbornes. Add in the selection pool size which would have to be large as well. But not impossible..

From what I've read, the dude spent a long time going over selections, and picking out exactly what he wanted, and then running those too, and digging really deep in there...Can you imagine some of the stuff he saw while doing this ? I mean eventually he settled on what became a true legend, with a beautiful smell and look, but imagine the stuff he was like "Oh hell naw this is just weird" LOL. I'd love to talk to that guy some day and ask him what kind of stuff he found while hunting for his selections.

For me to even attempt this recessive part, I imagine I'd need a few hundred seeds at a time. To start at least haha.

Yeah if I'm understanding it correctly, the Skunk #1 smell changed in the 80s, and that was when they discovered Cheese in there, which, kind of works out for trying to find the Cheese parts again, as most of what I've seen for Skunk these days, is that floral sweet stuff. I understand why they did it, at a time before filters were everywhere LOL.

Yeah but it's turning out to be just a seed run, hopefully anyways. Pest pressure has it ragged but I hope to get a few beans 🫘 out of her. If not going to try another pack.

I'd recommend fully popping more of that one. I didn't know what to really expect with her, but MAN she's a good one.

He does love his Hashplant male, uses it liberally. I think this might be different from his Hashplant though. Not 100% but I believe this Hashplant male is from Strayfox Gardenz.

Yeah I figured there was something LOL. I can't remember how many strains I saw with that in the cross. I have Red's version of BBHP which I admit I like a lot.

How many bunny seeds you got left ? I think once you get a good run of that you'll like it

Totally bro! I grew out the Cheetos and the Dead Whabbits, and I love both. I just recently was gifted some Lemon Cheetos which I'm also going to give a run ASAP. I can totally recommend the two I've ran already though. Both were quick finishers, but Dead Whabbits in particular, is the fastest finisher I've personally ever seen. Finished by like mid to late September outdoor here.
