I mix in a few bales of Canadian Sphagnum peat every spring after the first till of the winter rye....it helps a lot to grow a beautiful garden!I use a somewhat sandy/loamy mix normally, this year I mixed in a little more organics into it, they seemed to grow well! Was about 1/2 sand/loam, other half rich compost. Keeping it well drained is important. Slightly acidic I like a pH around 6.
We have a great ancho pepper, hard to get up and doesnt start to set fruit until Augustyes sir...sorting thru my many varieties of peppers this weekend...My Giant Aconcagua's take forever to sprout so I start them in Feb.

I also noticed they are kinda creeping along the ground & spreading out now.Hey @Dbear , thought I would check in with you about your blackberries. Now is when I get started on mine. According to your zone, here are a few things that I have found to work. After your last frost is the time to fertilize, they are not very hungry, side dress your plant with a good balanced fertilizer no number higher than 10. When you first see new leaves, follow each main Cain from the ground up prune each side branch at 24 inches long. It may seem counter productive but it will give you a bumper crop. Good luck with and happy growing ??
