In Bloom
Thanks again for the assist!!Yessir, it does! That's pretty much exactly how I was operating up until a few months ago when I started adding more tents
(I'll get it figured out eventually...)

Just super sensitive, Is there live pollen in those if you rub them? Wouldn't technically call it a herm . Also did you happen to forget to water her for too long? Sometimes they will panic. JmhoHi Gang,
Seeking some wisdom...
I have one plant, 5 weeks into flower tomorrow.
It is a Grape Ape, the seeds were gifted to me, I have never ran them before, and I do not know the breeder.
And I have 'Nanners'.

This is my first attempt at growing in a Hempy.
I am using Jacks 321 in RO with Cal/Mag and Silica Blast.
I do not feel I have enough experience to evaluate this situation correctly.
So I will throw this out to y'all and see what your input is.
This was not two or three nanners, I just picked off 50+.
Is this what one would classify as a 'Hermie'?
I have grown regular seeds that have produced male plants, so I know what a traditional male looks like.
(this ain't it)
Is there a way to know if this is a genetic trait of these seeds or if this is something the grower (me) has done wrong to stress the plant?
To my knowledge, my growing environment is not an issue. Temp, Humidity, light schedule, PH, PPM all seem to be in check. This is the same grow environment that I have been in for a year. The Hempy method is the one variable that I know of that is different. But again, to my knowledge I am doing that correctly.
I am very open to input, and would be more than willing to answer any questions to be able to get to the bottom of this.
My method of using cannabis is edibles. Seeds in my weed is not the end of the world for me. Seedy weed or bag appeal neither one really come into play, but for the sake of knowledge I would really like to understand what is happening and if I am the cause.
I completely understand that even with the experience here on PH, that to be able to find a solution to the issue is a long shot. Way to many variables.
But if any of you have words of advice, I am more that willing to listen.
Thanks in advance,
WillieP

Yeah man that's a tuffy. Shit could easily be sterile or not producing any pollen but ya never know. If they throw late enough I'll keep them around but that's it. Give em a light mist every night. JmoFrim
The vast majority of the nanners I plucked were very immature. I would guess 10% of them were mature enough to have pollen in them.
On the watering question, I don’t believe so. With the hempy I have been watering every other day to runoff.
Thanks for taking an interest!

GCAs @Frimpong said some growers would only call a plant that throws male pollen sacs a herm, but some are a little looser in using the terms. That's part of why I tend to say "intersex traits".... covers a little more ground...
But anyways, to your actual question, there's really no way to know if the intersex traits your seeing are genetic or environmentally caused with 100% certainty, but over 50 is A LOT and I'd lean towards genetics myself, especially considering you monitor your environment pretty closely. Plus if I recall correctly, while it's some pretty nice smoke, the Barney's Farm version of Grape Ape was known as a finicky plant that was prone to nanners.
If it's your only plant at the moment I'd let it ride but if you have others going I'd chop her down... but I'm not in a very forgiving mood when it comes to nanners since I'm going to be picking seeds out of my smoke for months lol. I know you solely make edibles, but heavily seeded plants tend to lose potency in my experience
? hope it goes well brotherGC
Thanks for walking me through your take on it.
I just have the one plant in flower, my three others were male.
So I will finish this out as is. Not the end of the world!

MO,Damn Willie...That sucks brother...
A handful, maybe (at most) of nanners on a single plant, but plucked and never to return, that's an ok/not so bad sign... There's still hope!
Perhaps the feed schedule..idk, But 50+ on anything, single or as a group, not so good IMHO. We all, as growers will experience them from now n then, but that honestly seems very excessive and not worth the hassle of keeping around. Just my 2 pennies... Especially if you aren't fully prepared to fight the good fight...
P.s. I'm going through some intersex bs currently on a couple cultivars I'm currently running (my own fault)... (And, for whatever it's worth, and I'm far from perfect.,. but I feel I've grown enough plants up to this point to determine what is worthwhile and what is not...) Excessive intersex traits, such as I'm perceiving, are a no go imo? I will smoke more and talk more later... Later ?

Hell ya! You betcha man, just trying to pay it forward whenever and whereever I can?M-99 Update (@MO_Grow)
The two plants that I had growing at my college were harvested on June 14th while I was away on a vacation.

They were allowed to hang whole for another week.

I then brought them home and finished processing them. I trimmed away the dried fan leaves and then ran the buds through a bowl trimmer.
This left me with a fair amount of trim that was high in trichome content. I then ran that through a screen and was rewarded with a pile of kief.
I was able to hand rub the kief into hash. 3.25 grams of what I think would be full melt hash.

I fear that I am far to much of a light weight to be smoking such a thing.
I only do edibles, and those only in low doses (4-8 mg is my preference).
I do not think that it would be wise for me to be smoking this, but I will say that the process of making and the history behind hash I find fascinating.
Guessing that one of my friends will get to enjoy this in exchange for a full smoke report and a description of the experience.
Thanks again for the dishing out the seeds to a guy you barely know @MO_Grow!
Cheers,
WillieP
